About Me

I believe that getting older should mean we become more capable, not less.

I’m Becky Fuller – a strength coach, health and fitness journalist, and founder of ReDefine Fitness.

I believe that fitness should help us lead bigger and better lives as we age. I want to be strong enough to lift heavy things, fit enough to say yes to every adventure that comes my way, and healthy enough that I can keep doing the things I love for as long as possible. And that’s what I want for every woman I work with, too.

Ageing isn’t about trying to turn back the clock, and it’s not about looking good ‘for your age.’ It’s about embracing who you are, what you stand for, and all that you can do. It’s about building a body that’s strong, capable, and ready for whatever comes next.

How I got here

Have you ever had a talk (usually at work) about ‘squiggly careers’? Well, that’s me. My route into fitness was anything but conventional.

I swam competitively, ran and played hockey when younger, but then studied theatre and performance at university, and spent several years raising my 3 children whilst fitting work around family life.

In 2013, I started writing theatre reviews, which led to writing about film and TV and ultimately, a job writing features and news for Screen Rant, alongside freelance social media and writing work.

And somewhere in the middle of all that, in 2015, I decided I should probably pay attention to myself, get a little bit fitter and lose a bit of weight.

I started following strength training DVDs at home, and I loved it. What began as exercising in my living room became a whole new career. Yes, I lost a bit of weight. But I also gained strength, confidence and a boatload of happiness.

I decided to qualify as a group exercise instructor to share my passion with others. I then went on to qualify as a personal trainer, adding specialist qualifications and eventually becoming a StrongFirst kettlebell instructor.

During lockdown, fitness became the main focus for me. I taught 11 online classes a week and coached a team of women through a virtual walk from Land’s End to John O’Groats, finishing with a 30-mile team challenge across the Mendips. I then managed my local gym through months of lockdowns and restrictions before returning to personal training and, in 2022, launching my women-only Kettlebell Club.

But my love for writing never went away.

In 2022, I joined Saga as a fitness writer, bringing together my two biggest passions: fitness and words. Since then, I’ve worked as a senior writer for Bauer Media, gained my NQJ, and continued to write about strength, fitness and healthy ageing for a variety of outlets including The Independent and TechRadar.

Today, my fitness work and my journalism don’t feel like seperate careers at all. Through ReDefine Fitness, I want to help women get stronger, embrace positivity around mid-life, healthy ageing and all that entails, and unleash their full potential.
